Careers Developer Productivity Engineer

Working in our Sydney CBD head office as the Developer Productivity Engineer, you will work to improve the processes, environment, and lives of our development teams. You will be responsible for identifying and automating manual developer tasks, improving automation for the release processes, and managing the test farm across our product suite. Additionally you will be responsible for assisting in creating and implementing best practices around development environment issues (IDEA, Eclipse) and work to achieve the goal of a '10 minute standard' so that a developer can set up a development environment on a clean machine for any product and be productively be debugging in the IDE in < 10 minutes. You will also work with Maven to assist with release management, Archiva etc and be responsible for responding to developer queries regarding Maven.

Required skills

  • Experience and a high level of expertise with Maven
  • Experience in a developer tools support role, including experience with IntelliJ and/or Eclipse
  • Experience working with Bamboo (or another Continuous Integration Server) and other development tools
  • Experience with provisioning and maintenance of Java web applications and their triage and optimisation
  • Understanding of Java specific performance issues and resolutions. E.g. garbage collection issues
  • Scripting experience in one or more of the following languages BASH, Perl, Python and/or Ruby
  • General Windows and UNIX system administration skills
  • A passion for making systems run smoothly, always looking for ways to improve the status-quo

Typical experience

  • Experience with monitoring and metrics analysis of production servers using common monitoring tools. E.g. Nagios, Cacti, Hyperic or others
