Job description:
The IT Manager is principally responsible for ensuring the smooth running of the infrastructure that powers Atlassian's desktop, server and hosted environments. In addition to its three global offices, Atlassian manages the hosting for its public facing and SaaS environments.
Responsibilities:
- Ensuring that Atlassian's internal, customer-facing and hosted services tick like clockwork
- Establish and maintain SLAs for all our systems
- Setup and maintain a server-status website drawing inspiration from Salesforce's Trust system.
- Hand-pick and grow the global team of administrators
- Capacity monitoring, planning and budgeting, so there are no surprises
- Manage the relationship with our hosting provider
- Manage the operations behind our hosted products
- Determine the best way of hosting our own systems and services, and share that knowledge with our customers
- Evaluate and implement new technology!
Required skills:
- Experience running a team of system administrators, desktop support
- Proven experience at predicting and budgeting in a growing environment
- An impressive track record of implementing new and progressive technologies
- An irresistable desire to outsource or eliminate as much work as possible
- A soft-spot for metrics
Preferred skills:
- Background in programming, network or system administration
- Data-centre experience, especially with SaaS applications
- Experience with virtualised environments (VMWare, Xen)
- Experience with server-side Java
- A background in an organisation with the following attributes:
- Global, multi-office environment
- Heterogeneous IT environment
- Technology company with a focus on shipping products
- Experience with outsourcing of infrastructure to dedicated vendors
