Careers Technical Lead

Responsibilities

  • Leads projects, features and direct work of a software project team
  • Coaches developers on all technical aspects of work
  • Liaises with product architect on design, dependencies and code maintainability
  • Provides time and size estimates for project deliverables
  • Provides accurate status on deliverables and risk throughout the project
  • Champions best practices for software development
  • Reviews team deliverables to ensure that quality goals are met
  • Performs hands-on software development tasks, such as feature development, bug fixing, unit testing and writing automated functional tests

Required skills

  • Experience leading software projects and providing estimates
  • Excellent software design, and object oriented design skills
  • Strong hands-on Java software development skills
  • Strong technical skills in current J2EE, open source, and related technologies
  • Broad knowledge of software industry and technology
  • Experience practising contemporary software development methodologies: Agile, XP, etc.
  • Strong organisational and communication skills

Preferred skills

  • Experience providing technical leadership to small development teams

Typical experience

  • Undergraduate in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field
  • At least 5 years experience in a software development role
