Confluence 4.3 has been released. Learn more!
You may have read the title of this blog post, and thought one of two things:
1. ‘What the heck is ‘Drag-and-Drop and how can I use it?’
It’s quite simple really, drag-and-drop makes it incredibly easy to take the files crowding your desktop, or documents trapped on your shared network drive and put them in Confluence. Just drag, and drop. Easy right?
Why would you want to do that? Apart from standing out from the crowd pimping your pages with embedded images, you might want to embed an Office document on a page so your team can view it in their web browser. There’s also the fact you only ever have one place to search for your everything you need to get work done – versioned, and secure with permissions if that’s your thing.
If you’ve ever used drag-and-drop before, you’re probably now thinking…
2. ‘I thought I could already do this, so what?’
Well, let me set things straight. We’ve taken the simplicity of attaching and embedding files using drag-and-drop and made it just as easy to re-arrange images and macros in your pages, as you edit them. If you’re anything like me you’ve probably tried this before and wondered why it didn’t work. Well, come Confluence 4.3, it will.
Seeing is believing
