With built-in CI/CD, native security tools, integrated planning, and AI agents, Bitbucket Cloud helps organizations accelerate productivity, improve engineering standards, and enhance collaboration across developers, operations and business teams.
Moving to the cloud also helps lower costs by freeing up hardware budgets and IT resources. And you can rest easy knowing developers will stay productive on a secure and reliable platform.

1. Drive productivity with AI-powered software development
Atlassian is investing in AI across all our cloud tools to improve developer productivity. In Bitbucket Cloud, AI agents help speed up code reviews and troubleshoot build failures. In addition, we’re continuing to build deeper integrations between Bitbucket Cloud and Atlassian Rovo.
Accelerate cycle times with AI PR summaries and code review agents: With Bitbucket Cloud, developers can use AI to draft pull request summaries based on code changes and commit messages. Developers can also use our Code Reviewer agent to take a first pass at code review, flagging potential issues to address before they get to peer reviewers.
Ship faster with deployment agents: Developers spend a lot of time debugging build failures. With the Pipeline Analyzer AI agent, developers don’t need to scan through hundreds of lines of pipeline logs to figure out what needs to be fixed. This agent scans your CI/CD logs to analyze why your build failed and summarizes what you can do to fix it.
Find context faster with AI chat and search powered by Rovo: Developers often spend too much time searching for information in repositories, pull requests, commit history, documentation, and beyond. With Rovo, developers can use natural language search to get context from across Atlassian and 3rd party tools. Get recommendations on next steps for solving problems, identify SMEs on specific topics, get crucial information on company policies, and more.
Connect to AI code generation apps Connect to the AI code generation tool of your choice, including GitHub Copilot, to Bitbucket repos in an IDE such as VS Code, IntelliJ and others. For Copilot, we also offer the Rovo for GitHub Copilot extension, so you can bring context from Bitbucket, Jira, Confluence and 3rd party tools right to where developers work in their IDEs.
2. Improve developer experience
Bitbucket’s native connection to Jira, Confluence, Jira Service Management, Compass and other Atlassian tools helps developers reduce context switching.
Embedded Jira UI: Bitbucket Cloud comes with an embedded Jira UI so developers can prioritize their work, as well as view, comment and update Jira issues without leaving Bitbucket.

Faster feedback loops with built-in CI/CD: With Bitbucket Pipelines, developers can see real-time pipeline status so they can fix issues and get to production faster.
Native DevSecOps tools: With secret scanning, dependency scanning and infrastructure-as-code scanning available to use right out of the box for no additional cost, developers can easily integrate security scanning into their workflow and fix vulnerabilities before they merge.
Native IDP: With Bitbucket Cloud connected to Atlassian Compass, our internal developer platform (IDP), developers can onboard to new code faster with a better understanding of software component ownership, context, and dependencies.
3. Improve engineering standards and code compliance
Bitbucket Cloud includes several tools that enable platform teams to improve CI/CD governance and code quality as well as collaborate better with Ops teams.
Set and enforce custom merge policies at scale: While we offer several out-of-the-box merge checks to help enforce coding standards, we know that many organizations have unique needs based on internal policies. With Forge, platform teams can build custom merge checks that show up as native functionality in Bitbucket Cloud (for example, you can build a custom rule to check if a specific security scan has been run). For scalability, these checks can also be enforced at the workspace level, so they will apply to merges across your organization.

Set and enforce CI/CD policies at scale: Similarly, you can set and enforce custom CI/CD policies via a Forge app as well. You can create an app to check all pipelines across your workspace at runtime, and dynamically insert any missing steps (for example, if a developer is running a pipeline without a security scan step, it will be automatically added to the yaml at runtime).
Automate change management processes: With Bitbucket and Jira Service Management, change requests are automatically opened before each deployment so IT Operations can do a final review before the production deployment. Developers don’t need to manually open change tickets or restart the deployment after approval.
4. Lower total cost of ownership and simpler administration
With Atlassian (and Bitbucket) Cloud, organizations can reduce investment in hardware and maintenance.
Free up hardware budgets and IT resources: With Bitbucket Cloud, organizations can free up hardware budgets and redirect IT resources toward more strategic initiatives because they no longer need to provision, maintain, and troubleshoot servers.
Scale on-demand: As your team grows, scaling your resources in the cloud is seamless. You don’t need to invest in complex hardware upgrades or installations.
No more managing plugins or upgrades: With Bitbucket Cloud, developers get access to new features, security patches, and performance improvements as soon as they are released. You don’t need to perform time consuming manual upgrades or manage plugins.
Premium support: We offer Premium support with 24/7 response times for critical issues, for no additional charge.
Rigorous security and compliance practices: We take all necessary steps to protect your data including data encryption, regular backups, GDPR compliance, and more to ensure that your code and data is secure, private, and compliant. Learn more about our security and privacy practices.
Get started
- Sign up for a trial: All prospective migrators can access a Bitbucket Cloud Premium trial that is valid for the same duration and user count as your data center license.
- Plan your migration: Review our checklist of things you need to do before you start your migration.
- Use our free migration app: The Bitbucket Cloud Migration Assistant is an Atlassian supported app to help you migrate your repos, pull requests, users and permissions to Bitbucket Cloud. If you’re using a recent version of Bitbucket Data Center, this is preinstalled in your admin section.
- Migrate CI/CD: Use our CLI to help you migrate from Jenkins to Bitbucket Pipelines (with a similar tool for Bamboo migrations coming soon). While there are several benefits to migrating your CI/CD to the cloud, you can also connect your existing on-prem CI/CD tools to Bitbucket Cloud.
