Today, we’re excited to announce the general availability of Atlassian Guard. Atlassian Guard is a set of capabilities that gives administrators company-wide visibility, control, and security over their Atlassian Cloud products, while providing users easy access to the collaborative tools they rely on to get work done. Atlassian Guard comes equipped with:
- SAML single sign-on
- Enforced two-step verification
- Password policies
- Priority Support
In November, we announced the Early Access Program for the product, which was then called Identity Manager. Since then, we’ve been thrilled to have thousands of companies adopt it as their identity and security solution for Atlassian Cloud products.
As a part of our vision for the product, we plan on offering a broader set of access-related capabilities including external collaboration management, robust application usage monitoring, and other key controls administrators need to run their Atlassian Cloud products.
Scaling our cloud offerings
We understand that the needs of our customers change as they grow. Ensuring that our larger customers – as well as those in highly-regulated industries – can scale in the cloud with confidence is one of our top priorities. We know that our customers care deeply about security, privacy, performance, and guaranteed support when they need it. That is why our cloud strategy is based on four main themes – improving trust and compliance, delivering performance at scale, providing advanced administrative controls, and offering industry-leading support.
Last year, we expanded our cloud infrastructure to Europe to improve performance and reduce latency. We’re also proud to announce that we are SOC2 Type II compliant for Jira, Confluence, Stride, and Bitbucket. And now with the launch of Atlassian Guard, we’ve taken another important step to provide you the best cloud offerings on the market.
Identity Manager has reduced our onboarding process for new staff to zero, in part due to the SAML single-sign on feature. This has freed up IT staff to perform other work that delivers business value. – Jared Smith, Manager of Information and Communication Technology at NLC
Key Benefits
Company-wide Controls
Atlassian Guard works across all of the users in your organization using Atlassian Cloud products, not just on single Atlassian Cloud products or sites. With the popularity of Jira Software and Trello, it’s not uncommon for companies to have many different teams accessing Jira Software on different sites, or using a multitude of Atlassian Cloud products like Jira Service Desk, Bitbucket, and Stride for their daily work. Atlassian Guard gives administrators a single source of truth for every Atlassian account so they don’t have to manage authentication and security for each and every Atlassian Cloud site and product separately.
Enhanced Security and User Experience
IT administrators leverage identity providers to standardize authentication and easily manage access controls in the midst of a constantly changing workforce. Atlassian Guard’s SAML single sign-on functionality allows you to connect your Atlassian Cloud products directly with your identity provider (we support Azure AD, Okta, Onelogin, Centrify, and Bitium) so you can easily add new starters and automatically remove access for employees leaving your company. Plus, there’s the ability to enforce two-step verification across all of your managed accounts or define requirements around the types of passwords users set.
For users, single sign-on grants them easy access to all of the various applications they use without having to log in to each Atlassian Cloud product individually.
Priority Support
For IT administrators that work in mission-critical environments, we understand the importance of getting timely support when it’s needed most. With an Atlassian Guard subscription, customers automatically get Priority Support. Our dedicated around-the-clock support team offers one-hour response times for critical issues, helping to resolve issues faster and keep systems up and running smoothly.
Pay once per employee on unlimited products
With Atlassian Guard, companies only need to pay once per employee to enable centralized governance and secure access to Atlassian Cloud products such as Jira Software, Jira Service Desk, Jira Core, Confluence, Bitbucket, Stride and – coming soon – Trello. Companies can save money on piecemeal security upgrades for every cloud application by managing Atlassian Guard for all of their Atlassian Cloud products under one simple license.
