Collaborative work between teams is often impeded by hurdles and inefficiencies. From information silos and clunky project management systems to disengaged or frustrated employees, these hurdles are costing organizations and their workforce. To combat these struggles, companies can turn to work management solutions like Atlassian.
With Confluence, we have seen more employees contributing information instead of just always consuming. This has empowered employees and brings them into our company culture. They are happier, stay longer, and produce more when they feel empowered.”
For their quantitative economic analysis, ESG sought to understand the potential impact that Jira, Confluence, and Atlas can have on collaborative workflows and organizational goals. Through in-depth interviews with end users, ESG was able to better understand and quantify how Atlassian solutions affected their organizations, especially when compared to previous solutions they tried.
Benefits of Atlassian Work Management
ESG identified three key ways that Atlassian solutions benefit organizations from the individual level to the organization’s bottom line: enhanced worker efficiency, improved project quality, and a boost in financials.
Enhanced worker efficiency
The ESG report found that incorporating Atlassian into team workflows led to an improvement in both the quantity and quality of worker output. For example, ESG reports that Atlassian decreased interruptions by 35% due to better workflows and notification automations.
Other ways Atlassian was found to enhance work efficiency include:
- At least a 50% reduction in the time spent searching for information.
- A reduction in redundant efforts, such as preventing employees from working on the same project or recreating knowledge that already exists.
- Improved the average time to value of new hires (the period from new hire until the employee is producing more than their burdened cost) from 4 months to 2.4 months.
Once we had the visibility that Atlassian can bring, we were shocked to see how many redundant projects we had throughout our company. We were able to shift efforts to support the best-of-breed projects and move the redundant resources to work that was more valuable.”
Improved project quality
Atlassian Work Management solutions bring control and consistency to the workflow, leading to higher project quality. With factors such as reusable project structures, templates, and easy access to a single source of truth, Atlassian helped teams meet their objectives and increase employee engagement.
We used to see our workers rely on sticky notes to store information. Sticky notes are 1-to-1 knowledge. With Confluence, everyone can benefit from knowledge, and we know it is being used consistently across teams.”
ESG found that project success rates increased by 18% for customers who adopted Atlassian. Customers reported that Atlassian enabled more predictability, better on-time rates, improved reporting, and closer alignment between the initial project goal and the final results.
Atlassian solutions also improved employee satisfaction. Customers shared that their employees were happier, more engaged, and more productive, contributing to a reduction in employee turnover by 10%.
Boost in financials
With Atlassian Work Management, customers saw striking financial improvements in the form of lower costs and improved revenue. And most organizations attributed that their revenue had increased by at least one-half percent due to the functionality of Atlassian Work Management.
For example, Atlassian tools helped speed up and shorten the length of projects. ESG reported that customers experienced a 25% reduction in the duration of projects per year, resulting in an increase of $2 million in revenue.
Customers reported that adopting Atlassian products replaced more expensive alternatives, allowing them to redirect cost savings to benefit employees. One customer noted, “Atlassian is lower cost than our old solution, but it isn’t just a replacement. Because licenses are more affordable, we are now able to empower more employees than we could in our old environment.”
After switching to Atlassian, managers were kept more up-to-date on factors like project status than in previous environments. When leadership can get up to speed quicker and with less effort, all dependent work and decision making can be done more efficiently and effectively.
Confluence gives us the ability to quickly share information, collaborate in real time, and allows us to make decisions faster and with more consensus. The Summarize feature is fantastic for our managers. They save time and make better decisions.”
ESG’s report showed that Atlassian’s work management solution enables organizations to aggregate, track, and review information more consistently, predictably, and effectively. As a result, Atlassian empowers employees and helps their organizations meet their business and technology goals.
