Bala Sathiamurthy is the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) at Atlassian, a leading provider of productivity and collaboration software. Bala is a seasoned executive with more than 25 years of experience leading and managing Security and Engineering organizations. He oversees Atlassian’s security organization and is responsible for evolving the company’s security strategy to protect customers in an increasingly complex threat landscape. Prior to Atlassian, Bala was the CISO at NerdWallet, a consumer fintech company, where he also served as VP of Engineering leading their Platform, Infrastructure and Data Engineering teams, DevOps and IT teams.
Previously, Bala held security leadership roles at software companies including Yahoo!, Foursquare, and Jive Software and prior to that he also held various engineering roles at Microsoft, AltaVista, and Siemens. Bala served as a technical advisor to cybersecurity startups.
