Get your apps in Cloud

Assess which apps you’ll need early in your migration journey - ideally in the Assess phase - as you start to evaluate when Cloud makes sense for your team.

Many of your favorite apps already have Cloud versions or the functionality is built into our Cloud products!

The Cloud versions of some of your apps may function differently than their on-premise equivalents. Review any feature difference documentation surfaced in the Cloud Migration Assistants or provided in the Marketplace app listing to ensure the app will meet your functionality and security needs in Cloud.

Cloud app security is a shared responsibility, with Atlassian providing information, controls and capabilities, and connecting the dots between Marketplace Partners and customers.

• Atlassian provides information, requirements, and capabilities to help Partners build trustworthy apps in line with accepted industry practices. Atlassian also provides information and control across a number of trust factors so that customers can assess and manage individual Cloud apps against their own requirements. Atlassian scans all Cloud apps for common security vulnerabilities, and enforces security bug fix SLAs to ensure Marketplace Partners are keeping their apps secure. Atlassian takes actions like hiding apps or in some cases pausing apps to protect you from potential security risks.
• Marketplace Partners design apps and operational processes according to their legal obligations, Atlassian’s requirements and general industry best practices for building and maintaining reliable, compliant, and secure apps that protect customer data. Marketplace Partners also provide support and information on their own website, app listing, and in documentation to help customers make informed decisions.
• Customers do their part to leverage the information provided by Atlassian and Marketplace Partners to assess apps and verify that apps fit within their organization’s guidelines or other requirements. Customers also acknowledge that app installation requires a new relationship with a Marketplace Partner that is separate from the customer’s relationship with Atlassian.

Automated app migration is now supported for many of the most popular Marketplace apps using the Jira and Confluence Cloud Migration Assistants. When you complete an app assessment early on in your migration journey, you’ll understand what migration paths exist for your apps. Then, when it’s time to run your migration, you can either use the Cloud Migration Assistants or manual migration paths to move your app data to Cloud. Contact the Marketplace Partners for your apps directly if no migration path is documented.

Only administrators can access the Cloud Migration Assistants on supported versions of Jira and Confluence Server and Data Center. The Cloud Migration Assistants come pre-installed in:

• Confluence 6.13+
• Jira Software 8.14+
• Jira Service Management 4.14+

If the Cloud Migration Assistants aren’t installed yet, you can download them from the Atlassian Marketplace. If you’re not an Atlassian Administrator, work with your admin to get your list of current apps, downloaded directly from the Cloud Migration Assistants.

If you’re using custom apps, don’t fear. We launched Atlassian Forge - our Cloud app development platform - making it easier and quicker for developers to build secure, reliable, and scalable apps. Apps built using Forge are deployed to Atlassian's infrastructure, meaning developers can rely on Forge’s hosted infrastructure, storage, and function-as-a-service (FaaS).

Yes. Most Cloud apps offer a 30 day free trial. Some Marketplace Partners may also offer trial extensions as you plan your migration. Reach out to the Marketplace Partners for your apps directly for more information.
